Poland is a big cauldron in what concerns jazz and contemporary music. Conscious of this crossed particularity, saxophonist, composer and producer Marek Pospieszalski decided to arrange pieces of 12 great Polish classical authors of the 20th Century to clear up their respective influences to the present-day musical reality of that European country, be it jazz (he is one of the top players in Poland of this genre), collective improvisation, club music, noise or sound art. The result is this double album with almost two hours of duration, reuniting mind-puzzling versions of scores by Jan Krenz, Tadeusz Baird, Kazimierz Serocki, Tomasz Sikorski, Witold Szalonek, Bogusław Schaeffer, Marek Stachowski, Andrzej Panufnik, Roman Palester, Zbigniew Rudziński, Włodzimierz Kotoński and Zygmunt Krauze. Very rich in terms of timbre and color, using unusual instruments as an old office Scandinavian piano or a reel-to-reel tape recorder, this precious release will amaze you for sure.

My listening connection here is Colin Stetson. This immediately caught my ear as something oddly alluring that I couldn't pull away from. Drop in to any random thirty seconds of Void Patrol and it might feel a bit lacking of focus, or purpose. But that's not how you listen to music, and it's not how these musicians play it either. Magic in its purest form. I love Floating Points, I love Pharoah Sanders, I love The London Symphony Orchestra. It's a match made in heaven, and the result is absolutely gorgeous. I have loved this record since its release, and realized I don't own it for some reason. So its time to change that. 9.5/10 honestly could become a 10/10 on an indepth vinyl relisten. angrypizza98
